Re-work incorrect textbook problems on separate sheet of paper. Your 5.1/5.3 packet and textbooks are good resources. Please link to the lesson explanation posted after Jan. 18th on this blog for an explanation of similar triangles. Please make sure your solutions do not show just one number - find the corresponding sides, set up a proportion, and then solve the proportion with cross products or mental math.
Note: pg. 254 problem 11 has 3 guided steps. First, use proportions to find the length of the shorter side; second, find the area (you know how to find the area of a rectangle!!) in sq. inches; third, calculate the total cost given the $.60 per square inch cost.
Sect 3/4/5:
Due Tuesday or Wednesday:
Fraction practice sheet - except for those students with a 90% or above on the take-home quiz. After the project is complete, will revisit some of the problem areas with fractions. We will have an in-class re-quiz - probably next Thursday.
