UPDATE: Although we will work with this material extensively next week, there will not be a formal quiz next Thursday. You should still be familiar with this material for several in-class assignments.

- Please review TRR and reading guide for Part I - chapter 2, and review the notes you took last week from the DVD - "The War That Made America." Check and add to any annotations now that we have covered more material with the mapping assignments. This work will help you in preparation for the quiz next Thursday, February 2.

DTS update:
  • Today you worked on beginning (lede) of your article. Some of you are off and running, and some of you realize that additional research would benefit your effort.

  • Article ledes are due at the end of your English class period next Friday, February 3. The full article is due on the Friday, February 24.

  • I will be evaluating your "selection of sources." *See rubric. If you have not identified at least four sources related to your research/project, please let me know why you are having difficulty and how I (or Mr. Johnson) might be able to support you.

  • All sources should be cited in your noodletools project. The next stage of evaluation will include your note-taking and notecards. Notecards should be linked to each bibliography entry. Following format and instructions is critical. I cannot/will not evaluate your work for credit if it is not available in the required format.

- used the blog instructions from 01.06.12, the DTS Research Rubric, and peer evaluation and feedback to self-evaluate and make changes to improve the top three or four research questions for individual projects.

HOMEWORK: Please complete your self-evaluation by indicating the level of performance on your copy of the DTS Research Rubric for the Research Questions category only. The rubric was handed out during class, and I am not able to post at this time. If you do not have a copy, you can take care of this next week.

NEXT FRIDAY: Please see the class information for Sections 1/4. This is what you will be doing on Friday, January 20. Please be prepared to ask questions about your research questions and about best resources for your individual projects. Ms. Stewart is a great resource and has much to offer.

- By next Friday, January 13, you should have 3-4 of your most creative and curious questions entered into an "idea" note card in your Noodle Tools DTS project.

REMEMBER:
Your most creative and curious questions go beyond Basic Fact Questions of What...?, Who...?, When...?, Where...?
Your most creative and curious questions should be moving toward Understanding Questions of How...?, and Why...?
